Drive to Lake of the Ozarks? Why, when you could drive where I am about to be fishing.....
Is your big fish at wheeler ccat? We were down at the sea ark tournament last april headed back for winter blues in January this year
Yep, and I am thinking of fishing it this year too.
I am hearing they are nearing 150 boats so far for the tournament.
Good luck down there this year.
U too maybe we can get together and catch some fish sometime
Good luck on that one he's retired and i aint seen ole twitch in months
The one in January? We were thinking about it too. Dunno yet though.
Yeah 10000 first place
Is that the tournament that had a change of leadership or whatever?
Yeah i think so
Seriously Sam, I am about finished with the House Remodel Debacle Get-this-place-ready-to-sell Fest.
Then I will be back in the game for fishing.
But first.........a quick trip to Bama Jama is in the works.
I saw where Douglas is going down tomorrow to film with some dudes.
Maybe he will get to see me and film me reeling in a channel cat dedicated to our "deer" friend Johnny...
Retired? I can tell you I have worked harder than when I was teaching, but it is well worth it as things are getting done around here we need done.
T had the question the other day.........Alabama is #1 and OU #4.
What if they play in the National Semi-final game and Bama wins??? She wondered if we would still be friends
Probably not but let's get focused on me here. Well me and juniors been on a Fishing Extravaganza for two days solid and we're going for number 3 tomorrow. Several fish I've been caught. Several fish have been caught and released. I'm going to post some pictures of the two-day event. There's nothing like old Junior coming out the gate with a 41 pounder on the first run. I did respond though
I did hear from twitch though today he struck out in bama Rama any set of trolling motor wire issues....
Well the results of 3 dams in 3 days is in.... Day 3 were at BK at 615am downing the 2 for 4 croissant special and tossed in a B&G for good measure.. Launched at 645am didn't even bring the HD8 gen 2...flying blind......anchored on the line big shad head loaded and skip-chunk......jr got the 1st run in ( he usually is dangling his line in front of my face while Im cutting bait). He had one drag his cork about 30ft sideways..then came the 1st of many cork malfunctions he began to have.. he missed it i ran mine in bagged an 8lber within 30 seconds and thought here we go....after cork debacles in a row finally got his in again and guess what ????? cork failure I told him throw those new fangled corks away and fish old school like i do with a bobber stopper........ His response was " no". Then it happened he was tangled in the R/C ( you guessed it cork again) suddenly i had no forward gear...We loaded up and met later that afternoon at " Champs" house. he is the master of R/C building.......I got my spare minn kota trolling motor and knew we would need it..... my 1969 sears and roebuck motor on it blew up finally
came inserting the replacement
is a 1990 model excellent shape.... Then came the total re-wire and 6 way switch replacement
Then Champ takes over.......he was making and running R/C boats in the 1980's..it wa over quick......we tested it on the table....everything works so far.....Here is the man
Now all we need is a live test Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
Well the results are in ...we fired up the R/C after a total over haul....It is faster than before i like it!!! We were catching some eaters turned a few in the 12 lb range back...then Jr hollers " get the net" and here it is
LOL....We took him home to rest....they were hitting shad
Well folks.........shhhhhhhh, get very quiet and you can hear it.............Just listen real close and you'll hear Sam whisper a very faint "thanks Chris"..........
It's proven the Hex was back in full force on me AGAIN.
The past 2 trips to Bama have proven to be a bust (fishing wise) but a banner time for Sam and the RC boat. Even with a blown motor on the "sooner schooner", ole Sammy and Jr had a great 3 days running the dams.
It shows that my trips down only turn on the fish on the 13 and Dardanelle.
My trip wasn't a total bust. I did get some hours in on my land and tilled up a 10'x75' bed and planted about 3000 garlic. My knees are still bloody and scabbed over from all the scooting around in the plant fest.
I got two 5 gallon buckets of cloves planted in about 3 hours, watered in and covered with about 4" of straw. Sam, you can come collect your garlic next June.
Our fishing stunk. The 'best' day was on Wilson to the tune of about 20 blues, but they only totaled about 20 pounds, and that was with a 4 pound and 7 pound kicker.
Our youngest did have a 26 pounder Tuesday but that was the only fish.
I did have some trolling motor issues with a plug but a few tools and some $$$ got it all changed out and back on the water.
We are waiting on our 3 bids from the builders and then will move on to starting the build. We got our official address from the 911 people down there but Sam will have to wait on that secret piece of information for next fall when he drags Jr or Johnny (insert a hold of the breath on that one...) down to fish.
News report came in .....Buzzards still reeking havoc at Ozark.....But the good news is i was able to score a 6500c3 sweden & a 5600c4 sweden both for ???????? 60 dollars i may be grinning for a spell on that one both are excellent shape...
Jr is waiting on tonight's Greenwood game for a 6A championship ....... Booneville exited last week as Pea Ridge came back and took it...now i got to spool these babies up and give them a test run soon.. B1 out
Anyone know how the fishing around Russellville is going. Bluecats and any skipjacks yet
Well, I know my fishing has taken an abrupt slow down, but I can't get my new house built until I get this one ready for sale.
The bathroom "remodel" is in full force. Got the new vanity all ready and am waiting on the countertop.
Fishing is on the horizon, but T and I did make a quick trip to Kerr this past Friday.
I ended up with 7 and she had 3...........that's fillets............we only made it to Shad's.
It was a pig out fest to say the least.
I did my best tribute to my good friend Sam and drowned many....many....and did I say MANY hushpuppies in melted butter, AND marinated my slaw with Louisiana Hot Sauce.
It was GOOOOOOOOD to say the least.
We dragged ourselves out to the car after the all-we-could-eat fish fillets.
After a tribute to Johnny at the Roland coffee shop, we headed back up the hill to Fattyville.
I was lucky to not get pulled over on I-49 as a DUI (driving under the influence of BUTTER) would have been in order
Now, back to Sam's reels he scored above...... I scored yesterday on an almost new Dremel with tons of bits for $10 yesterday, two 100' Extension chords for $5 each, 7" table saw tile cutter, 100' 3/4 heavy duty garden hose for $5, and a 6' folding table for $10.
Oh did I mention Sam, we ordered our new Reclining Loveseat for the Bama Rama House?.....T says you can NOT sit on it during your 6 visits a year.
Today will be prepping to rip up the vinyl flooring in the bathroom and get ready for concrete backer board and then setting tile.
Ok.. Now back to ME and the real action...5am everyone was ready to go and wanting to fish for some reason not sure why.....we rolled in BK for the standard 2 for 4 croissant with a kicker burrito for me Jr crying all the way down " lets go to the big ramp i will pay" we wont have to run up river a long way" well what a cry-baby i gave in knowing better that ramp is 50 yards wide and when ya get to the bottom your looking like Apollo 11 ready for lift-off...oh did i mention at the bottom of the ramp it is covered in sand from one end to the other...but I made Jr do all the walking on this one...course there was the standard 1/2 inch of sand in the boat on our shoes in my truck ....but my Sooners won!!!! back to fishing i struck 1st with a 13lber they started slow...real slow....
Then Champ came to life
and again and again and again...LO we busted about 18 blues 9 were over 10lbs and released.... i kept 9 under 10lbs for the skillet...
I know 1 thing for sure my Arkansas football buddies aint riding the " Gus-Bus" any time soon!!! B1 almost out to answer the Kansas gentleman's question no we have not had any cold weather the fish are not schooling yet cold weather starts this week they should appear in January ..maybe...B1 out
