i don't smoke, but i do drink beer at the races. i always tell people we need to help each other on this. as soon as the do gooders get smoking completely outlawed, beer is next. i am on your side. people need to quit pushing their socialist ideas on the general public. i do think smokers need to be a little more courteous inside and it would keep the fence riders on their side. outdoors everything is ok.

Are you sure this pertains to the speedway? I just checked it out and it is listed under dragway news. I can't imagine trying to keep a crowd of 160,00 people from smokin if they want to. I'm not saying that you're not right, but I don't see anything under speedway news about the smoking ban.

I cant see how they would be able to police that at a race. It would be impossable.

I wouldn't be to concerned about it, I don't think there's enough law enforcement in Bristol to enforce such a law, besides being drunk in public is also against the law in Bristol but I'm sure their will be plenty of drunks out and about during race weekend.

Bristol is one of the smallest track NASCAR races on. There will be the smell of burning tires, oil, fuel, brake pads, alcohol, probally illegal drugs, and people want to whine about smoking in an outdoor arena!!!

I just went to Nascar.com as Carolina Cats said, and here is the statement from Bristol Motor Speedway about the smoking ban. The last line of the statement tells me that they won't be confiscating your smokes as you enter the Speedway.

Bristol Motor Speedway officials are warning NASCAR fans that there will be no smoking in the stands this year.

A new state law that took effect in October prohibits smoking in most public facilities, including sports arenas.

Speedway spokesman Kevin Triplett says he's received a lot of complaints about the change, but also some calls from people happy about the ban.

The restrictions will apply to all seating areas, terraces and restrooms but not the concourses.

Smokers will be asked to extinguish cigarettes and cigars when spotted

<Disclaimer>Well I hope I dont create enemies here by what I am about to say. And if I do Im sorry. Im just being honest with my feelings on the situation.<Disclaimer>

When a country enacts laws that effects 20+% of the population it is indeed DISCREMINATION!

I smoke and am darn proud to say so. In this part of the country a major tob. company basically built this town. In California, if you have kids under (I think 17) age in your automobile, you can not smoke in the car. Now that chaps my...Well you know what Im saying. Im kinda easy going unitl this so called government that "is working for us" enacts such stupid laws as not being allowed to smoke in a open air staduim. But its ok for some jack monkey to get so drunk they can barely walk to the car and find the ignition switch to stick the key in to drive home.

My grandmother lived to be 101. If she would have lived a few more weeks she would have been 102. Now can you beleive a IDIOT family member said at the visitation,"If she hadnt smoked she would have lived to be 110!" What the crap? 110? I'll take odds and say I'll not make it to 100.

A year or so ago a women walks out of a store that we are standing in front of waiting for our wives to finish shopping and she gives me a go to Haiti look and says,"You need to quit that smoking it is discustiing!" I politly look at her and say,"Mam, Im glad you are looking out for the welfare of my health. But May I suggest to you one thing?" She ask,"What?" I said," Going by your looks you are about 300 lbs over weight. I would suggest to you that you need to control your food intake a little better!" Well that didnt go over well ether. I got cussed up one side and done the other. But I stood there and took like a man and she stormed off madder then *%#@ !

I dont argue Religion or Politics. But I will stand on my stump and argue over stupid stuff this so called government of ours enacts.

    Time to fire one up!

none taken. outdoors i think folks have the right to smoke. as well as i have the right to get popped as long as im riding. i usually take a bus tour out of springfield to nascar events. they charge $350-$400+ per person. includes tour bus ride from springfield il to the track, motel, and back home. drinking on bus and all you pay is the flat fee ahead of time. take $ for food and souviners. tickets motel are included. i can get wiped as long as i can find the bus, lol.

one thing though. if it was made a law the speedway probably is considered a public place. they may not have the choice. and ide rather be asked to snuff it than be removed from the speedway and fined .

and i can be a mess after a 90 degree day in the sun drunk at a track, lol. 99 bristol. wow. thats was the worst, or was it 01 inagural chicagoland, or was it 2000 talladega, or....................................................
