any of you guys hear in IL. bow fish i am wanting to get into it and have a few ?
I'm right there with ya dallas it sounds like something really fun to get into. Plus i'd love to put an arrow through the side of some of them big ol carp i know they can be beneficial but their just way too over populated in the places i fish.
Yeah I have done it . What do you want to know brother ?
We use compounds that we bought cheap at auctions , but you can buy a new big dollar bow if you want . It dont take much to shoot a fish .
A fishing kit to set up on a bow will run you a pretty penny though .
We shoot them off the boat at Carlyle spillway , it is fun shooting a 40 to 50 pound asain carp then trying to get his ass back to the boat . They are tuff . Also shot a few gar .
Floyd i have a bow just have to set it up for fishing my mane ? is do i need a spechil lisens to cary the bow or to use it to fish with other than my fishing lisens
I wouldn't spend alot on a bow, your going to abuse it anyway for fishing. First time i went used a guys recurve that he had a 808 zebco on it. Just be certain to push the button before ya shoot. With any rig i highly recommend safety glasses. Bowhunters warehouse.com has anything you may need. Oh yhea, aim low. Good luck dude, it's a blast
Unless there are new laws I'm unaware of, you only need a fishing license. I haven't done it in years, but I have shoot hundreds of fish with a bow. I think the most fun was getting into flooded fields in the spring along Carlyle Lake, a 20lb. American Carp will make your day. Big Asian carp may do the same.
Just a regular fishing license to bow eish . You will need to look over the dnr site to see what you can get with a bow .
