Just bought a new Abu garcia 7000i Syncro reel for $91. I cant really tell by the pic, but is this same size as an vintage 7000? Anyone have any problems with theirs??
Im thinking i got a good deal or should i not tell the wife lmao!!

Size wise,, 7000 is a 7000, I think the Synchro feature is a function of the drag mechanism that allows for changing the drag setting ,by backing off the handle??
I've never used or handled one myself,,

Greg's got it right. The Synchro works by cranking the handle backwards 1/2 a turn to reduce the drag pressure. Never used one, but the concept seems sound to me. Get a fish close to the boat or shore, back the drag off by cranking it backwards in case the fish makes a last ditch surge, then just start cranking to resume the drag pressure and the battle.

Like I said, it's a sound concept. As for the actual functionality of it.....
