well john you dont half to anser, lol, we talked for hours about floats.lol, , i wish they sold the around here, id half to order them, any idea how far off the bottem u want to be,if your fishing around heavy current, also i think them lite up ones at walmart would work, with no weght around lakes, im going to try that at four foot on a poll this weekend, untill i buy some slip floats

    Both.
It just depends on the Flatties moods. I usually keep a pole rigged with a kat-bobber to use every trip. Their behavior is different every night, day, time, body of water, season, weather, etc. so I change techniques and baits often. I'll never fully understand them but I'm gonna keep on trying.:cool2:

SO far I have always been a "bottom" man ,

but I'm thinking I should expand my strategies.

Mainly bottom. If you fish rivers, the current makes using bobbers a challenge. Sometimes I will cast as far up river as I can and let my live bait float underneath my bobber. That's if the river current is not very fast. Usually though, it's bottom fishing for me. I use the sinker slides made by Team Catfish or no roll sinkers.

I'm on the bottom most of the time. Sometimes I will fish with a float in shallow water with livebait but I do most of my catfishing on bottom.

I fish off the bottom. I have wondered though how often it would have benefitted me more to flaot the bait...how often do flatheads suspend themselves is the question?

I use both methods..Of coarse during the summer time in lakes that stratify the fish will be suspended so a float is necessary..
