My wife and I went down to Virginia Beach (Pungo) this weekend to visit daughter Carol and the Grandkids. They live right on Back Bay and the water is right behind the house. My son-in-law, Kenny was in bed with a high fever and the women were all talking quilts and knitting so I decided to try some fishing. I was going around the farm looking for worms and turning over lumber and things that were laying around. There was a piece of plywood laying there so I stepped over a clump of grass to grab it when I caught a movement. I looked down and saw a Cottonmouth coiled up right between my legs. He had his head back, mouth open, ready to strike. Even with my bad feet, I made a jump that would make Michael Jordan proud. The snake missed me by about 2 inches! I was hoping something would bite but I wasn't ready for that. Next time I'll be wearing my boots instead of sandals!

I bet you did jump over the moon. Found muscles you have'nt used since high school ha ha. Good thing it did'nt get you , you would have been in bad shape. At least you did'nt have to find out the hard way. Take care brother.

Willie, Glad you made it out of there ok. Did the snake? Or are the boots you're referring to snake skin?

That snake is getting close to eating size. Fried with some bread and butter would be good.

Yiyiyikes! That's a little too close, there. Glad to hear those reflexes still work. Amazing what that "flight" instinct can do, huh? A bow, huh?? I want to see it when it's done. Take care.....old man! Heehee!

Wow that was a scary story! I don't have any use for snakes.
I had the petting zoo visit my classroom one time. The zookeeper handed me a python to hold. It wrapped itself around my arm. I was so scared but I didn't want to let my second graders know that I was. Needless to say I never invited the petting zoo back to my classroom.
