Where I fish the bottom is so rocky that you lose rig after rig. I designed and make Bobbers called KatBobbers and sell them online. I am a sponsor here on the BOC and our Link is over on the right haand of the apges here on the BOC.
or you can click this link: http://www.mainewolfproducts.com/ It is a slip bobber so you can set the depth of what you want.

To answer your question on How Big of a bobber to use. That depends on what size of bait you us , either Live or Cut bait. We make bobber in 4 different sizes to handle virturally any size bait and you can use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Oz sinkes too. Check em out.

i use a 3 inch peg float for keeping big baits up and a 1 and 1/2 inch one for smaller baits. they work great.
