We recently got the boat out of the garage since summer baseball is finally over (brother plays little league). We were all set to go out yesterday and spend the entire day on the lake but the boat would'nt start. It will turn over but will never even begin to come to life. We found that it wasn't getting a spark. We replaced the coil and still no spark. What the heck could it be? All of the plugs are in fine shape. Please help. It is a 140HP Mercruiser engine.

    Was it in neutral?
Did it make any unusual noises?
Does it have any indcator lights? Hot, choke, amp gauage ect.?

If it doesn't have electronic ignition it could need a set of points.

What made you replace the coil?
How did you determine it had no spark?

It sat through the winter with the same gas, but we put stabilizer in the tank. That cant be the problem though. The wires should be good. We arent even getting a spark at the coil. If the plug wires were the problem, should we still be getting a spark at the coil? Im stumped.
