I just sold my old boat last night and bought a different one tonight. The seller lives in iowa. He gave me a hand written bill of sale from the guy he bought it from last summer. He never got it registered. I have the plate and registration from the trailer I just sold. I sold it to a guy in iowa of all places. I'm wondering if I could get away with reusing my plate. He also gave me the registration for the boat itself. I'm fairly sure I can register the trailer as a homemade trailer and I'm hoping his handwritten bill of sale says the make $ model of the boat but not the trailer. It has not date on it either. The tags on the boat are good for another year. Thoughts?

Reasons I'm glad I'm in kansas...
    1. no titles for trailers
    2. no titles for boats
    3. no titles for motors
    4. no plates for trailers (unless double axel)
    5. boat registration is cheap and lasts 4 years

try looking on the dmv website and the nebraska parks website or wherever you get it registered for the boat. FAQ's section most likely...

I went down to license my boat and this is what they needed from me. bill of sale stating date of sale, price year make and model of boat and trailer with serial number if possible, previous owner's boat license number and trailer license number too if possible. Any boat 1972 or newer gets a title so the title needs to be signed over when applicable.I will have to take my registration from my old boat to G&P to get a refund.
