I LOVE BLUEGRASS! In spite of me being a classic rock fan & a C/W musician,I can go to a bluegrass festival and sit in that lawnchair for hour's.In fact Ricky Skaggs is some of my favorite fishing music,or any bluegrass for that matter, some of my favorites:

    The Whites

    New Grass Revival

    Osborne Brothers

    Jimmy Martin

    Flatt & Scruggs

    J.D. Crowe

    Grandpa Jones (no joke.......'MOUNTAIN DEW'

    The Issacs(gospel)

    Dry Branch Firing Squad(gospel)

    Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver

    The Crabb Family(gospel)

Another one of my favorites is a lesser well-known group that call thierselves SPRINGFIELD EXIT,the only place you can git their CD is at Cracker Barrel restaraunt. It is awesome.

I love it. I am more partial to the hardcore grass sound and think it should be kept intact and not suffer the same fate country music has in the last 10 years or so.

What I like most about bluegrass is the raw talent these people have whether they are recorded or not. Many are not recorded and posess some great talent.
Acoustical intruments are where its at.

The movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou introduced millions of people young and old to the bluegrass sound. There has been a large surge of young listeners since the movie.
That is paramount to the continued survival of the sound.

WELL PUT,MARK! If you're familar with my post, you know I'm a C/W musician, and like you,a lot of this 'new country' makes me sick.I realize BOC members have a diverse taste of music, but speakin' for myself,I don't see how song's like 'Save A Horse,Ride A Cowboy' can be country. The BOC moderator's have every right to 'bleep' that song title out of my post, but I would'nt have menthoned it if the song was'nt written.I'm happy for whoever is getting 'Big & Rich' off of it.

Bluegrass rocks! LOL, like Mark indicated, some of the best musicians have never recorded. Check some out, you'll be glad you did.

There is a local (or was?) a local band called Troublesome Hollow that did some great playing in the area. We used to go as teens to a local city park on Tues. nights and flat foot to the music! Some great memories there overlooking the man made lake, that years before we had swam in. Later it became polluted and the geese took over, so you can imagine. But anyway, the bluegrass used to draw hundreds on the summer nights here.

Used to love to go to Mountain View Arkansas in April and listent to the bands play and watch cloggers dance on the courthouse square. One October, we were up there and stopped to eat at a downtown cafe, asked this guy on the sidewalk if there was any music to be heard around town. Turned out he was the mayor and invited us over to the town communty center, great music and dancing. The cloggin is the real thing, not that purty patticoat stuff you see on tv.
