Is it legal to use bluegills for bait in WV?
as far as i know it is, ive saw and talked to people that do.
I am not sure about the laws in West Virginia. Most states say that if you catch it legal, then you can use it as bait.
i heard the gills are in game fish class you can be fined from what I Understand
Yes you can as long as you take a game fish by line and hook. It may be used as bait. Info from the WVDNR.
you can only use blue gill that you caught in that spot for bait. you cant catch them in the kanawha and use them in a different body of water.
You can use bluegills in wva aslong it caught on rod and reel bass can be used to aslong it caught on rod and reel
Thank you for the info cuz i do it all the time but when i was at the pet shop tryin to get goldfish the a couple of guys said the gills were illegal.
Bluegills are legal pretty sure about that . Need to check with the dnr though . I strongly would think twice or check for sure about using bass !
Myself and Jim asked a DNR officer and he told us anything caught on rod and reel can be used for bait.
Well, that is enough yeses to convince me! I will sure be using them in 2 weeks fishing on the Ohio
Yeah, if live bluegills can't be used, I'll stop fishing
For those that know their different sunfish, I love Pumpkinseeds. Colorful and generally a better piece of bait. Too bad that aren't as common to catch as Bluegills.
