I ussally fish with bluegills and get more hits on them cut into 2 to 3 inch chunks but never really tried fishing them live, just wondering if people fish them more dead or alive

I use cut bluegill(fillet). From my experience which is a fair amount with channels they are after a free meal unlike flatheads who prefer there bait alive.

Liver( Chicken or beef also turkey but its harder to find) set out in the sun a few hr's works great also.

For liver i use Magic thread (Nylon thread) to keep the liver on. I use to use Altas mikes spawn sac nylon netting also.

More stinkier the more likey its going to be a big ole channel on your line. Thats my thoughts on it.

I have had zero luck not even a bite with cut bluegill in PA in the susky. I've also tried rock bass and dead fatheads cut up. My best luck I have for the biggins' is shrimp.

I catch as many fish on live gills and bluegill heads as any other bait. never really had any luck on the rest of the gill

ive caght sum channels in cut gill.. But when i go for channels i still like chicken livers the best then raw shrimp... Oh though dont overlook cut bait on them bigguns!!!

How big of a head are we talking here? I don't know maybe I'm cutting the fish wrong. I don't get it I get NO bites.
