Hello, I am from Kentucky and I was wanting to know whe do you all start fishing for bluecats?
None in Wi. Only in the missip. maybe some in rivers that run in to it .
You will find many flathead and channel cats in wisconsin rivers.
In spring use cut bait from carp, sheepshead or gills
Summer use live bait of blue gills or suckers
Spring use Sonny's blood sink bait
Summer use Sonny's regular sink bait
This is the best advise I can give you for fishing in Wisconsin - Dont let anyone tell you there are no catfish other than channels - I can catch flathead over 20 pounds in Wisconsin
When you get a BLUE cat in WI call the DNR there was never been 1 caught in the state!!!!!!!
Very interesting. I did not know they were that warm blooded.
I catch alot of flatheads ,besides hook an line I run bank poles ,off my land .Its a very effective way to catch catfish , its also very expensive , if you have to buy bait , which I do . I have never caught a flathead on any thing but live bait . I have heard some guys do ,but they are smaller fish . My biggest flathead to date is 33lbs , My brother caught a 47 in. 48lb'er. We do alot of catch and tag [DNR] and release . Wi . DNR just held state wide meetings on many wildlife concerns , stricter regulation on flatheads was a major issue. We shouldf know soon the outcome of these meetings .
Its a pleasure hearing from fellow Wisconsonites who like to fish jay jay
both of the questions had more yes votes........i have the numbers in an email but i'm to lazy to go get it lol....but both did well, we'll see what the DNR does now...as long as the closed season for the flats is catch and release only (which i believe it's supposed to be)....i'll be a happy camper
Like I said no blue cats in WI
Someone told me that there where alot of bluecats there. I guess I got told a lie.
When you going there Junior? You taking me?:smile2:
