spent this last weekend fishing at caranchua bay and started catching nice blue cat off the pier. for three days this continued. then the reds started moving in. yesterday we caught both. think there is about 28 blues and we got two and a half limits of reds.

Yep. We catch blues here in SC in water with a bit of salt to it. And red fish will go up the rivers to pretty much fresh water, so they overlap a fair amount.

I live in Port lavaca. I wish I could find that spot or one similar. Mostly I fish the river in lolita or the lake texana dam. Never had a day like that but my fishing partner caught a red all the way up at the dam.

give me a shout sometime and we can dang sure go to that spot. im gonna fish texana tommorow. ive never fished the dam there, but sure would love to. we catch redfish at the dam on the colorado river in the summer alot, which is about 25 miles up from the mouth.

bastrop bayou is the same way. it is near freeport and every time there is a good rain the blues move close to the intercoatal canal. it is not uncommon to catch blues and reds in the same water. the only time though is after a good rain.
