    The idea:
Needing to build something for this winters feeding birds to escape to when danger gets close; hawk.
Wanting to build something using cornstalks.
    Anyone have ideas?

Two years ago, I had felled some cedar trees and had no time to cut them up till spring. The birds at my feeders loved to hide & roost in them.
Last year, to mimic the cedar, I built a frame from cattle panel tomato cages & some waste lattice from the deck. Worked great, but was godawfulugly.

Tom,how about weaving some of those stalks into the tomato cages, leave a couple inches between them, and tie the tops togather tee pee style.
