What was the biggest channel cat you've caught in any of Indiana's rivers?
10 pounds White River Hamilton County
River wise...my biggest channel was 14lbs out of the Broadripple area on White River. My biggest ever though was out the lake my Grandma lives on in Brown County, weight in at 16lbs 4oz.
A 14 lb channel out of Mississenewa River/Res.
didnt have a scale then, but it was 39.5", st joe river.(ft wayne)
Man, thats a once in a lifetime channel huh!oooh:
19 pounds downtown cinn. ohio
26 pound channel out of a county fishing lake
I've never really topped about 6lbs out of the river.
My biggest was 32 inches on the nose from Eagle Creek, about 12lbs. Pre-spaw bite starts there about mid this month, tons of decent channels and action to be had. ^.^
so far it has been, yes. lol
11 pound channel, Cataract Lake
11 pound channel cataract lake same night as shane :smile2:
seem to be alot of decent channels there too..
I caught a 20 pounder in wabash river. A also caught a 10 lb albino cat on poision creek in southern indiana.
Cataract has produced some large fish in general, most recently noted in 2008 for multiple 50+ pound flats, most of them have been between the upper and lower falls, and a couple below the lower falls in the channel out to the main lake from there.
19.7 from Monroe. Sounds like alot of fish stories on here. Didn't see one start with This ain't no lie now.:smile2:
Hey Ron, you gotta get em' started young, and you got em' hooked for life!
I havent caught anything of substantial size from Cataract myself, but of course I just started fishing again in 2008 after about 8 or 9 years of not fishing. The fish I was referring to in my previous post different people have told me at Cataract bait shops, and local baitshops (Westside) when they asked where I was planning on fishing.
I remember when I was a "little" kid seeing a guy name Ermil catching quite large catfish below the spillway. Most notably a 59+ pound Albino Flathead! I seen it with my own 2 eyes, along with many others there that weekend, the fish was tied to the roots of a tree by a rope, that same tree is still there to this day at the bank/waters edge...
In the background of my avatar picture is the "pool" that the spillway feeds into below the dam, that is the first flathead I had ever caught.
At the Spillway, it produces some MONSTERoooh: FLATS & CHANNELS.
Caught this one last year. I guessed him at 34" maybe more. I know it's 34 from the top of my reel to first eyelet. Not my heaviest but pretty sure it's my longest. Probably the best fight I have had for a channel. Them strong river current channels can put up a fight. Caught the male as soon as I turned her lose. He was 6 inches shorter with a head twice a wide. Prob weighed the same.
