Someone has to start this thread!

Lets post up some personal best cats from the yak! The bigger the better!

My personal best from the yak shouldn't be hard to beat, its just a 3# from Lanier, but I plan to post up some bigger ones soon!

Never used mine for cat fishing. Its main purpose is to get bait out past the bars in saltwater. Its a sit in with no rod holders. Not really set up for catfishing. Tell you what though, I'll paddle lanier with you for a stripper. I have mastered trolling the rod holderless rod holding in hard surf with 2 ten foot poles in the Gulf so Lanier should be a breeze

Hey, for a stripper we should probably hit Cocktail Cove:smile2:

Creteus, you should come out to lanier for some stripers, nothing like going for a sleighride with a big striper pulling the yak!

My personal best striper from the yak is around 18#......looking for a 30#! I don't think a lot of yak fishers fish for cats yet, thats why I posted this thread!

I hope gas gets better so I can get down below ATL on the Hooch for some flat-heads in the yak! I have also heard good things about Alatoonna so I may try there!

YD, Creteus, I will shoot you a pm and we can figure out a time to hit lanier for some strips!

I used to do most of my Flatheadin' from a canoe up on the Wabash River (IN). My PB was a 35 lber! I have never fished from a yak though. Sounds intense!

I just started Yak fishing this year. Most of the time I fish for cats. As of yet I have not landed a big one but have caught several 12-15 lb. channels. I am just not very good at remembering to take pictures, I need to work on that....lol. I did have a fish on one evening for 15 minutes and never saw him, that was a heck of a ride.
I fished from a canoe for years before I bought a yak and will post some picture of canoe fish. I fish creeks and small rivers mostly.

Nice fish Kansas Tree Rat, and nice yak!

It is fun when you get towed around by a big fish! I used to fish from a canoe also, but since getting the yak I don't know how I lived without it!

I know what ya mean Yakdawg. Have had mine in the water 2 or 3 times a week ever sense I bought them. Planning on using it to get me into places to bowhunt this winter and going to shoot ducks out of it as well. I plan on buying a bigger Yak and a tandem next spring. The whole family is really getting into it. My best friend and brother inlaw are also getting into it.
Yak fishing is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!

I caught the 52# fish on the James River, VA. while the Catfish America show was filming. The show was on The Sportsman Channel in August I believe. Also caught a 38# as well on camera.

Some of the pic's did not turn out too good due to the fact that they were captured from the video.
