I have a chance to pick a couple of these rods new for 13.00 each. 20-50 lb line rating. Only thing is they have the roller tip. What do you think of useing these rods for a flathead heavy cover rig?? Ive heard the sturdy stiks are pretty good rods and the price is unbeatable.

Phillip, I have two of the sturdy stick MH which have a standard tiptop. But at that price you could always afford to buy them and replace the tip if your not into the roller. I love them for the heavier action. If you are a fan of a softer tip you probably won't like them, but for hogging you wont find a better rod for the money. Vern

I own a couple sturdy sticks and ive pretty much retired them for the simple fact i dont like the guides.....the lack of em and the quality of em..but the rod its self is hard to beat for the price.
