I caught some nice channels this weekend in small lake. All fish were caught in 6 ft of water (might seem weird but deepest spot was 10 ft.) on cut shad.

We caught 6 fish, smallest was about 5 lbs. biggest was 12lb.

we also lost the biggest channel i have ever seen. It threw the hook while my buddy was lifting into boat!

OOhhhh the heart break of a thrown hook. I hate it when that happens.

yeah tell me about it. My buddy got kinda cocky after he threw an 8 lber in there about 20 mins before. After that he demands the net, and i am glad for that!

Good job on slayin' em. A good net is possibly the most important tool you can take fishing with you, with the exception of your rod and reel.

catching channels that size in a relatively small body of water I'd recommend two things:
    1 - go back
    2 - don't tell anyone exactly where.

Good to see you landing them ... by the way, on the lost one, think of it this way, your partner owes you one ... have fun with it and don't let him forget it.

Sounds like you had a good time. The one you lost just gets to grow up some more.
