Caught this monster estimated 40lbs from a local lake, using cut blugil, set up was Berkley Big Game spinning rod with a South Bend catfish reel spooled with 12 lb Cajun Red Cajun Lightning. Fight took about 25-30 mins.

Yeah, I know that someone had to have dumped him in there from a river trip. They stocked the lake 5-6 years ago with channels, bass and bluegils this is the second blue I have caught from this lake the other was about 8 lbs.

nice cat...ive caught some awsome blues while fishign places that wherent suppose to have blues in em..with out a doubt they where put there but what a suprise when your fishing for channels and hook into a 40+ pound blue.
them blues seem to do suprisingly well in small lakes and pits,i hear they dont reproduce in small lakes or ponds but continue to grow to massive sizes,i fish an old stripper pit here that was stocked years ago when it was a hunting club and have hookd fish in there that i couldnt do anything with or they would just run and run and ya cant turn em around..im always under tackled when i fish this pit and cant seem to buy a bite when i fish it with big rods,i always seem to hook into em while crappie fishing with UL outfits or med. sized baitcasting gear, the biggest i have caught from that pit was a about the same size as yours but i have hooked fish in there that felt much bigger.
    good luck

Nope it is one of the local Urban Fisheries Development lake, it was completly redone 6 years ago. Last year I caught a 5-6lb bass from the lake.

Cut bluegil, took one and kinda half-@$$ filleted it so the cut through the body was diagonal so the guts and all the good stuff was hangin out.

  14. Finally getting to see that monster makes me want to come back home and go fishing again. Its so darn expensive to go fishing here in Cali. Its $125 a year just to enter the parks if you get the sticker. Other than that its average 8 dollars each time you enter. Kinda bullcrap that the only free place to fish is the ocean and the rivers. Anyways congrats on the huge cat man. Hopefully I hook into one out here.
