Spring right after a hard rain, Summer right before, during and after a fast moven thunderstorm, late Aug-Sept just a good wet day that breaks the heat. All have one thing in common a falling barometric pressure.

the best night i ever had was on the hooch in roopville, the river was real low.about 2 hours before dark a real bad storm came in,lightning, wind,it was bad.i was way down river and either way i was caught in it,goin back up i would've went right into the heart of the storm.so i just sat it out,the guy with me had never river fished before or since.but it was the best descision i've ever made.it was hot & muggy after the storm, from about 9:30 till about 1:00 we caught 300+ lbs. of flatheads(r&r).we had 1 blue 23lbs.,6 flats from 25 to 39 lbs.And a lot between10 & 15 lbs. Out of bait by 1:00am,and motor tore up messed it all up.sat there til 11:30 that morning til i seen a friend an he towed us in.the river rose about 3 foot that night.ready for another like that.

When I read this question, I realized I did not even know the answer. I guess I need to start keeping a journal, because my fishing trips are starting to blur together

All I can say is that night fishingwas the best for me. I think I only went twice during the day. For all I know the day could of been better, but night is about the only time I can go.
