Just wondering what type of hooks you think are the best for jug and trot line fishing?

just buy th ones w/a picture of a catfish on it, lol. tru-turns I believe, straight "J" seem to be better than circles or khale's. IMO.

thanks for the info guys! I've always used j hooks or the ones that come with the trot lines and had no problems. How often do you check your lines? seem that I was having alot of bait being taken by checking them about ever 4 hr. I went to checking them about ever hr. and it seems that I either had fish or bait. thank for the info

Im going to all SS hooks very soon. Either eagle claw 354SS or Mustad 34009 SS.......Ive been using any O'Shaugnessy or Limrick big eyed trotline hook but am tired of them rusting out half way thru the season. Even the tinned and duratin coated ones rust out after a while in the water.

i'd guess a circle hook, so the fish hooks itself when it turns to run

I use Gamakatsu Octopus or Eagle Claw Kahle hooks whether jugging or rod n' reel fishing.

what ever hook you use it has to be sharp...some new hooks are dull even when new...get a hook sharper and use it.

When I jug fish Im usually in the boat watching them. If you let jugs alone for to long there liable to be took somewhere by the wind or a fish where you cant find them..
