We don't have white perch in our local ponds and waterways. Just curious, why is it a good thing that they were deleted from the list?

Bill they are a invasive species of fish that are fish egg eatin machines. They have totalled displaced and wipped out the white bass at santee. They make wonderful bait and it will be nice to be able to catch them in a cast net which is easilly done. They are suppose to be reat to eat so maybe the perch fisherman will start tacking them out by the boat load instead of 30 at the time but I doubt they or this change will effect the population any.

You know James. Doesn't that open the door for bait shops to sell live perch. Any body want to buy stock:smile2::smile2::smile2:?

You have a point I never thought of that. Man that would be great cause I am not above buying bait to get to fish longer not having to worry about the bait.

It's great that white perch aren't going to be game fish anymore. NC should do the same thing. BUT, taking them out by the boat load would be the WRONG thing to do. They are a major food source of blues and flatheads. We should catch all the white perch that we will need while we are on the water and then release all of the live ones that we aren't going to eat before we leave.

I am pretty sure there are millions and millions of threadfin, gizzard shad, and blue back herring and mussels which are more likely the main food source so I am not to conserned about them. That is just my opinion.
