I just wondered what type of spots to look for on a river during the spawn. I fish a river with quite a bit of wood cover, about 300yds wide and mostly shallow and sandy, There is usually a channel 3-9ft deep somewhere in the river and it runs about 5-10,000cfs depending on the day. I found several spots with manmade riprap, but they are in the channel with heavy current so I haven't had any luck there. The only place I have been catching mature fish now is in feeder creeks, anybody else have any pointers?

I know some people don't fish during the spawn, but everything I catch this time of year is released within 2-3 minutes of landing it and I use heavy tackle so the fights are short, so I don't think it is bothering them to much.

    Thanks, Heath
