There's always someone asking for the best places to catch bait. I figured I would add one more place that I ALWAYS catch great numbers of lively bluegill. When I am in the need for bait, I fish in subdivision ponds. There are tons of new subdivisions going up in the West Lafayette area, and they usually build 2-4 runoff ponds in the middle somewhere.

Since little kids love to feed the fish, the bluegill flock to you as soon as you walk up to the edge of the water. I can catch a dozen hand sized gills in 20 minutes. Easy pickins'!

Adds one more place if you are hard pressed for bait.

I posted about doing this last year myself Ben.
But some members replied that it was illegal to
introduce fish from one water to another due
to spreading viruses or whatever. But the facts
are who knows about the bait fish that we all
buy from baitshops. I really don't think it's a problem.

BTW. I fish them in my area for bait fish as well and I usually catch nice sized bass.
18+ in. A lot of fun!

I'll pull over and get bait anywhere! I have been setting chub traps lately I love it I have 3 traps one is set 5 miles from me under a bridge on a country road.Been soaking for three days.I've caught a bunch of crawdads.Think that is good bait since there hard.I've had luck on softcraws.
