Don't let a carp fishing fanatic know you use trebles, might burn you in effiagy.

i've never lost a fish from a weak hook at that size. true, the wire is thinner than a larger hook, but the tighter turn of the hook's shape makes it hold a little better... with a smaller hook, the fish has less leverage to straighten it. but, if the hooks are snelled, make sure the leader will hold a fifteen pounder. i'd suggest tying your own snells with a worthy leader if you inted to sling a couple hooks from swivels.

    have fun.

Brian, I think the issue with trebles is that the "catch and release" devotees hate them. Trebles maim and kill.

At least a 10/0 for that size bait.

When I bowfish for them, they go in the garden.

Actrually, the reason they hate them is that the treble can pin the lips together and make it impossible for the fish to feed.

Kyron, the #6 hooks I'm using has pulled in fish up to 40lbs.
You can also use a #4/6 octopus hook with good results.

Well, if their small ones < 6# I'll sometimes clean them and keep them separate from the rest, mainly just to let others try them when the occasion arises. Thank God there's other fish in the river.
