Just wondering what everyone thinks the absolute ideal conditions for catfishing is. Cloud cover/clear sky, Rain/shine, wind/calm? What temperatures?

However if I can, I like to fish just before a front comes through.rainny Weather can be a great time to fish the mouth of a feeder creek on a river/lake with nightcrawlers for blues,But most of all I like to fish when thier biting:tounge_out:

Right before, during, or right after a rain. Just from my personal experiences, it's by far the best. Like it best in the spring (own personal preference...don't know if it has any effect on the bite) 'cause it's not too hot muggy or too cold. Hope this answered your question well enough.

Any time is a good time to fish but I would say the clear blue sky on a hot day are the badest days i have ever fished.

perfect for me........River on a rise, within an hour of daylight or dark, warm front coming through with a light rain fallin', big piece of fresh bait on bottom, and a hungry cat on the prowl.........thats the things they make beer commercials about.....it just don't get no better than that!!!

My absolute favorite time to fish is the 'golden hour'. 30 minutes before and after the sun rising or setting. I didn't coin the term, but it certainly is the most productive time of the day from my experience.
I also like it when the clouds are real low...so low you think if you could jump a bit higher you could touch one..:cool2:

    I fish whenever i can though. :smile2:

my best fishing as far catching the biggest fish was wind outa the east low to mid 70's water dropping , most fish caught in a single outing id say water on the rise after a rain water muddy

the most enjoyed sitting in the boat with family or freinds and seeing them catch some nice cats

Usually right before a good storm seems to trigger the cats into biting, especially if you find a small creek dumpimg into the main river.

In my experience the fishing is the best when the conditions are the worst. Rainy, foggy, high water, cold, windy, rough water...Seems like all that stuff turns the fish on..Not so much wind, but every other bad condition

I like all conditions apart from rain! I also find that heavy wind is a killer - the cats where I fish don't seem to hunt when the waves are heavy rolling...

When the river is on a slow, clear rise is when I've caught the most and largest fish, of all types.
