Enough of the cheap walmart and fleet farm rod holders. Do yourself a favor and buy Cat Clawz Stompers series bank rod holders. You won't find anything better for $15 a pop.

I don't but I know the owner. I've been using them for a couple of years now and there is no substitute. I've been trying to get him to raise the prices on these but he hasn't budged.

Those look like really nice rod holders, they just wouldn't work for the rocky ground where I fish. That's why I started making my own rod holders. I will recommend that some people take a look at these if they need some rod holders for softer soil. There are plenty of guys at my workplace that need bank rod holders. Those seem to be a well-made product. Tell your friend, to keep up the good work.

There are a lot of bank rod holders available on the market, so the "best" one will depend on your specific needs and preferences. However, here are some popular options:
  1. Scotty Powerlock Rod Holder: This is a versatile, durable rod holder that can be mounted on a variety of surfaces, including banks. It has an adjustable locking ring that securely holds your rod in place and a universal cradle that can accommodate a wide range of rod sizes and styles.
  2. Berkley Twist Lock Rod Holder: This rod holder is designed to be easy to use and adjust, even with one hand. It has a unique locking mechanism that keeps your rod secure and a rugged construction that can withstand harsh conditions.
  3. Cabela's Quick-Draw Rod Holder: This rod holder has a quick-release mechanism that allows you to easily remove your rod when you get a bite. It also has a durable, corrosion-resistant construction that can stand up to years of use.
  4. RAM Mounts Tube Jr. Fishing Rod Holder: This rod holder is made from high-strength composite materials and has a versatile mounting system that allows you to attach it to a variety of surfaces. It also has a patented ball and socket system that allows you to adjust the angle of your rod for maximum comfort and control.
  5. Cannon Dual Rod Holder: This rod holder is designed to hold two rods at once, which is great if you're fishing with a partner or want to keep a backup rod on hand. It has a sleek, low-profile design that won't get in the way and is made from rugged, corrosion-resistant materials.
Ultimately, the best bank rod holder for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Consider factors like the size and style of your rods, the types of fish you're targeting, and the conditions you'll be fishing in when choosing a rod holder.

Those rod holders are made for boats. In order to use them for bank fishing, you would have to make a bank rod mount to attach them to. It can be easily done in several ways, but none of them can be used with the standard boat mounts without some kind of spike to mount them to. The Cat ClawZ at $15 a piece is still the better option for soft ground and at no further cost.

I had a welder friend of mine make me a couple of these so I could use the Monsters and Fishbites from my boat on the bank.

Heavy duty with a good striking point, a good ground point, won't rotate under pressure, and a simple design. It looks like a winner to me. Tell your friend I said, Excellent Job!

Don,
Is that striking plate part of the spike or welded to it? If one piece, looks like it might be a thin slice off the end of a deep I beam?
Either way, very nice simple design.

It's welded on there. All that steel makes the unit a bit heavy, but the versatility of being able to use multiple different rod holders make it worth it.

Your friend's design could be made with the use of a piece of 3/4" angle for the spike instead of the heavier plate. It still wouldn't spin under pressure and I believe it would be considerably lighter in weight.

Yep. That would make a simple design that would be quick and easy to make. I may have to make one this summer as I think I have some angle laying around that would work.

They look like really awesome holders.
But, what ate the ones laying next to them, for $3 each?

Looks like extensions for the legs maybe?
Only problem I encounter with buying one: it seems they are only sold on facebook.
I haven't done Facebook in more than 15 years.
