Bench seat on 16" jon boat

    Im buying a 16" jon boat and would like to know if there is any easy way to take out the middle bench seat.

    drill out the rivets remove seat then replace the rivets! after seat removal you can put some legs on it so if needed it can be tossed back in for occasional use:wink:

    I'd check with somebody who knows a lot about boat structure first. Sure you can take it out and fill the holes, but there's probably flotation in that seat, and the seat also adds strength to the boat.

    I removed both bench seats from my 18' flat bottom but it has alot of ribs . Sure it probably lost strength and will go down like the titanic if ever a good size hole gets it . I removed the rivets and the weld that held mine in , cleaned it up and put nuts and bolts with rubber coated washers and silicone , incase I want to put a bench back in I can use the same holes .
