Anybody used the CATMAXX reel from BassPro before? Also, anybody know where I could buy a power handle to fit on a CATMAXX?

Yep, there junk. The drag and gears are very jerky on fish of any size. I would not trust one to land any fish over 5#.

I have heard some people say that they cast further than a 6500 abu garcia. Anybody compared the 2?

I use the CatMaxx Bait caster and landed a 42# blue with it, It is a smooth action reel and cast as well as any I have seen. Get one and use it, I am about to buy another CatMaxx combo.

I got a catmaxx combo at the end of last year and i love the rod but the reel is worthless. it brought in a 6# and a 8# before the drag was ruined on it. its now sittin in my cabinent were it belongs.

I personally own 3 CatMaxx rods, 1 CatMaxx reel, and 3 Abu6500. The CatMaxx reel will not outcast the 6500's simply because the amount of line they hold. Overall, mine has been a great reel. They are extremely easy to cast also, that's why I gave it to my wife.
