So are they still working on there new store south of Independence Center? When is is going to open? I am getting cabin fever and I hate the drive to cabalas from my house. Rogers are closed on Sunday.
I guess I will stay home and save my money. :smile2:

It's going to be a while... I don't think they've even started on the store. Going to be an awesome facility though, with the scenic drive through the park, the lake, etc...

There used to be a bunch of deer and turkey on the property they're building it on, don't know if any wildlife stuck around with all the work going on.

The Bass Pro in Olathe just opened in the last week or two. Ought to put a little pressure on Cabela's I'd think.

The BPS in Indep. is probably 18 months away from opening by the looks of things.

Kabela's is only about 5 miles from the house. I'm not nor have I ever been to impressed with their prices. It will be nice to have BPS give them some competition.

Last I heard it would open in Nov. 2007. That could change if they are having problems. Wish they would hurry as I live pretty close.

I'm with ya on that Terry. I have found that Rodgers generally beats Cabeals prices by 10 to 20%. I guess they (cabeals) have to pay for that building some how. I would rather give my money to a ma and pa shop than some over commercialised giant.

    THE ICE IS THAWING!!!!!!

    Scott,

I use Rogers over in Liberty, frequently. I also use Minnesota Bait and Tackle, on Minnesota Ave. in KCKS. They have some good buys at times. I think that the two new BPS's will drive down some of the profit taking by cabela's. Just my thoughts - may be wishful thinking!

I'm sure that more compition in the KC market will help. I just hope that The mom and pop stores will be able to hang around. I'm sure Rogers and Minnesota bait both lost some sales to Cableas. With BPS coming into the market soon it'll be tuff for the small guy.

Could'nt agree more. As far as I'm concerned all cabelas has going for them is a really good selection and a nice store. After almost every time I buy something from there I find it some where else cheaper. Last month at their "bargin cave" I bought a used trolling motor and then found the same one for 20$ less brand new. Probley my fault for not shopping around.

I too am looking foward to BPS in KC.

I've been to both Cabelas and BPS....once! Took the wife and just made it a day out.
Too many choices for me,much rather go to rogers or 1 of the 4 stores in St.Joe...or shop on-line.
