Went out with the family monday evening. Tried the flats again with no luck not even a run. Well except the pole my father in law lost. was able to net some really nice carp & little bro had a bucket full of gills by the time I got there. No fish but the kids had fun. I talked to rich today he was fishing on the main lake as well but from his toon with better luck. Go get em' rich!

When you reel them in, or start to reel them in, they don't spit out the hook or fish, it is because the hook is not set. Even if they so call spit the fish out, or spit the hook, it is because you did not have the hook set good enough. A fish can't unhook itself, it is either in him or not, or the hook works its way out during retrieval. Or it is not hooked at all, and once you start cranking the flathead in, you pull the fish out of his mouth.
