I sometimes use a ten foot PVC bank line pole to fish with in addition to a rod and reel. A fast and secure way to anchor this pvc pole is push into the bank at a 30 degree angle a piece of 1/2 inch rebar. use a piece about 24 inches long. Push the open end of the PVC rod onto the rebar stake. When the bank pole starts to dance, it's an easy matter to slip it off the rebar and take care of business. Kids love this fishing style. It's sort of like the old cane pole we used many years ago.

We are not allowed to leave a line unattended here in So. Dakota. Our two lines must be able to be observed by the owner. No field glasses.
