Just wondering what ya'll were using for bait in crawdad traps. I've used bacon but the little bluegills keep stealing it. do you think tunafish would work

Just about any meat I got handy. Hotdogs, chicken, fish heads....This morning I caught a big batch on a freezer burnt squirrel:smile2:

I agree with this guy...anything meaty or bloody will do just fine. As for bluegill staying out of your traps...I've yet to find something craws eat that those rascals don't. Maybe somebody could help ya out better'n I could. Will be checking in on this thread to see if somebody's gotta tip for such a thing. Good luck.

chop up the blue gills and use them or put tuna fish in panty hose and tie it to your trap

if you are using the wire box traps, then a wrapping fresh killed fish in the mesh bag onions come in never fails.

Charles has the plan. A bag that will hold the bait but still lets the smell come out works great.

I always tied a chicken neck or just the skin from a chicken neck in the trap for mudbugs.

The small ones were bait, the big ones were supper!

I agree with Albert, Raw chicken works the best.
