WARNING-Reading this post may make you want to start an argument-WARNING

all right, as some of you probibly know Ive gone back and forth from Baitcasting to spinning, ive been listining to you guys advise, but have decided that a reel isnt something someone else can choose for you, so I have decided that this year, everything from just practice casting to fish fighting Im going to keep logged (probibly not on here, just on some paper) and at the end of the year, when winter rolls around, Ill know which type to buy for next year...

    The Competitors
    For the spinners--Okuma Nikko w/ 50lb spiderwire
    For the Casters--Abu Garcia 6000 w/ 50lb spiderwire

Ill let you all know from time to time who is in the lead.

My opinion for what it's worth is that the Okuma will come out on top. I wouldn't trade mine except to upgrade. I stand by my Okuma spinning outfits and they have always taken care of me.

In my opinion I would choose the Abu , I use baitcaster for catfishing, I am changeing my cat rigs to Abu baitcasters and Berkely Cherrywood E-Glass Rods.

Well, I use spinning and baitcasting about the same except on the Mississippi River, there it is baitcasting. I like both types.

I got both types mounted on 7' ugly stick catfish rods. Two abu 6000's and a shakespere alpha 70. I love the baitcasters and hate the spinning reel. I always take all 3 fishin with me and wouldn't ya know, most of my fish are caught on the spinning rig. So, my new thought is buy whichever you dislike the most and it'll catch fish.

    Marshall,

I think you "hit the nail on the head"....Go with your "gut feelings" and get what you want.....Buy and use both....Nothing like being versatile.....Dwight

Change of plans, the abu garcia will have 20lb Berkly big game solar green, it is also going to be the deciding year for Mono vs Braid

I have baitcasters and Spinning I usually use the Baitcasters. Shimano Baitrunners are great also use whatever makes you happy. Because the main thing is you are outside having fun. Take care and God Bless.

NEw twist the the line trade....

    IMHO:
I use both but prefer the BC with Power handles
As far as line - I HATE SPIDER WIRE!!! I have had nothing but troubles with it and it has a lot of memory which I dislike!

    Even more honestly though:
You need to fish with what is going to catch you fish and make you happiest, if the equiptment doesn't feel right, the night will be all wrong!

    Best!
