what is the best bait for flathead catfish in the muskingum river ?:confused2:
Bluegill and shad....either live or cut, are both great just about anywhere.
live bullheads from 3to 15in is my size range but urs many differ. but bullheads are awsome river flathead bait anywhere
Can't go wrong with shad, bluegill, bullheads, and a host of other panfish will work well. Whatever is naturally found in the waters will produce well.
When they are hitting any live or cut bait will work. Shad seems to work best when the water is cooler, fast current or rising water levels and big live bait works well in the summer months with less current.
thanks a lot guys:wink:
imo, large bluegills are hard to beat for numbers!! for size use cut bait!!
i like to use big and i mean goldfish like near a pound in size
Warmouth and greenies are awesome river monster bait
Gotten stick with my Gold fish or cut chubs.
Creek Chubs or Bluegill. Cut or live Bluegill is good they both work great.
From my experiences there the best baits I have had luck with are Gold fish, large cut chubs, an israli carp. Seen nights a live chub would not work at all so I cut the tail off an then the bites were on. It's just a matter of trail an error really but as we all know big cats like live baits.
