I sometimes fish at the park beside the lake murray dam and was wondering what bait would work best for catching catfish off the bank/dock there?

Cutbait of any kind (bream, crappie, herring). Main thing is it needs to be FRESH. You can and will catch em with old frozen bait, but you'll catch more with fresh bait. Try a thumb sized piece. Some folks scale it first. If you are fishing for channel cats, chicken liver is pretty good too.

there is a bait shop right there beside the dam, stop there and get some herring and use it as cut bait. there are alot of stripers caught around there in the summer. if you can catch one of those cut it up into chunks and use it. murray has a big fish kill bout every yr and I would think those big blues gorge themselves on all those dead stripers.
