    Does anyone know of any public access areas near OKC that I could throw my net for some bait fish?

    I'm sure you know but throwing a net in okc is illegal..

    If you can avoid throwing a net in OKC I would try to do so, but if private waters are not an option and you really need the bait..

    I've sent you a PM :wink:

    Disclaimer::

    In no way do I condone throwing a net or breaking the law.. If one gets caught breaking the law by throwing a net in OKC waters in no way or form was it my fault but it was in fact ur own for not using better judgement..
    And I would have to say.. I told you so!

    I agree with you and understand. That is the one reason I have not thrown a net in a few years. But I got to throw it this past weekend at keystone and I forgot how great it is to toss it a few times and have bait!

    I am trying to decide if the canal in OKC that runs from the North Canadian to Hefner is legal to throw a net? I have heard it both ways. Need your opinions on it. The following are excerpts from the regs.

    So as I read it then the canal is not part of the "Close to Home" fishing areas and should be allowed to throw a net.

    I guess you are right.. hmm it also says that you can noodle south of the 10th st bridge from overholser.. I went to the cooper dam yesterday north of overholser and they had it open and there was lots of current.. threw my net a few times and managed a few shad but also managed to snag my net doing so.

    I would be extremely careful getting close to the canal when it has alot of current.. would hate to see one of us on one of those "Most Daring" tv shows where it shows a ton of people trying to rescue someone from a canal. :embarassed:

    Welcome to the BOC.

    I am not sure on that. Their is a lot of gray area. I would tend to err on the side of no until you found something out.

    Have you seen that part of the river? Some of it looks like a trash dump. I know not everything can be crystal clear but last time I fished it up by Overholuser I caught a lamp. :confused2:

    I've caught quite a few good hybrids, sandbass and even a few lil stripers out of the river that runs through the city..

    Never really caught any big cats though..

    You're smart not to eat fish from the North Canadian, it along with the South Canadian are probably the dirtiest rivers in the state of Ok.
