When I've used it (or salt pork), it's worked just as well on blues.
I agree, it's the Fat in the Bacon they like.
I have used it before only a few times though. It did work for me I zapped them in the microwave for about 6 or 7 seconds. Then wrap it around the hook it stays on pretty good. I haven't tried this year though maybe next.
I'm sure the grease and oils form the bacon attracts channels.
When I was younger fishing private ponds and lakes for bass, all we did was put a long piece of bacon on the hook, cast out, and reel in like lure and catch bass.
how well does salt pork work?
The salt pork works better and stays on the hook better. You want go wrong with either. Great substitute when you can't get bait fish.
have to try that take some with me next time i go out for blues
I think I will try the bacon next year and also take a frying pan! If I get hungry the "bait" is gone! :smile2:
Ive tried bacon a coupleof times but never had to much luck with it.
How do you guys use your microwave at the lake? I look and look but cant find a power outlet anywhere to plug it in at. just a bunch of trees and rocks.
What abou suet, anybody tried that? Later Andy
