Back home again after our 10 days at Melvern. Fishing was great when we first got there if you had the stones to get on the water. 45-50 mph gusts Sat and Sun,, it increased the pucker factor significantly!
We ended up with 20 keeper walleye, Two 5 lb channels and a boatload of white bass. Actually had to make a trip home mid-week to put fish in the freezer. Towards the end of last week the fishing slowed quite a bit. I didnt fish much this past weekend due to all the,, umm,,, 'other boaters' It has been a while since I have seen such inconsiderate fools. Guess I will need to get my potato gun out and take it with me in the boat,,,,

I tried everything I could think of to purposely catch channels or blues and never did find them. Tried up along the causeway, around Tonka point and even tried the feeders. My 3 year old boy managed to get a 5-6 lb carp on his little zebco 202. That was a lot of fun to watch! :smile1:

Not going to make it to the gathering this year. The wife wants to take a day trip to Milford on Saturday (certainly not turning that down!) and then she leaves for San Diego on Sunday morning.

I will be going to the Wakefield area as that is where my cousin will be. Any pointers on where to go to look for the blues and or walleye? This will be my first trip to Milford.

and his boat landed over 100 cats in three days.

I wont say where being I will be there this weekend  but he said it was on the whole three days for them.

LOL!! As much as I was up and down that lake I must have surely seen this boat. There is one that I noticed several days in a row. They were not too far from Turkey point. They worked the same area each afternoon and evening so I figured they must be catching something.
I thought of trying for the cats where they were fishing but didnt want to intrude on them.
That might not be the same boat you are talking about but I am guessing they were catching something to be there for so long.

Chris, if I make it out there Sat. night or Sun morning I will show you where the blues are at Melvern. If I don't make it just think the opposite of what has been working at Milford. Bring a camera with you since I return them all back to the lake.

I have a good idea on where to find channels and blues shouldn't take much. i do remember the few places I marked last year and it does seem to be the going pattern that I was thinking of trying. Thanks Dave. Hey Dave if wait till Sun. morning most of the earlly birds will have packed up and gone. So try and stop by even after dark most will still be going and not stopping till the sun comes up. I plan on having the boat in the water till I leave pending wind.
