I have seen the one's on Ebay and they look like they would work for catfish of average size but not the brutes some of the other people catch

Hmm sounds kind of lazy to me....but to each his own. I definitely not trust them with a brute sized fish.

Tony when you set the hook try to pull his tail out through his mouth that will get the hook set for sure.

the one im talking about i think is made by strike king, you put your rod in a holder, you set it kind of like a trap, when a fish hits your line, a spring pulls your pole backwards and sets the hook, i use this when i have my poles spread out. saves me from running a great distance to set the hook.

I saw one in ebay called the quickset and then make my own. mine is kind of diffferent looking but has the same idea. I have caught some catfish w/ them and the set off correctly but if the fish arent bitong pretty agressive than the wont get hooked

When the fish are hitting hard enough to trigger a hook-setter,
circle hooks will hook them. Be sure your pole is anchored if
you wander off...and set the drag for the type of line you are using.

All that is needed is circle hooks. they cet themselves and no need for fancy divices.
