i'm sure that it's happened to you more than once, your fishing for cats and your rod about breaks in half, 5 minutes later you pull in a nice.... snapper. Any way to get rid of them? or at least a bait they wont take.

Nope, you just have to deal with em unfortunatly.

I have yet to catch one on stink bait though when fishing for eaters.

I never caught a snapper while catfishing but I did catch one yesterday trout fishing on a piece of powerbait.Go Figure I think he was down in the water eating all the dead trout from this weekends stocking.

Why would you want to do that? I like a nice snapper once in a while.

eat them they are very good. I catch them all the time. To clean them its not as hard as you think
    1. Cut off head (carefull it can still take your finger off)
    2. Trim the claws off with wire cutters.
    3. let hang for a couple of hours by tail
    4. Flip up side down and cut belly ban off with good sharp knife.
    5. Then I just go in and start taking the meat and guts out. (carefull not to pop and of the guts it smells)

Well...I've caught numerous snappers while catfishing...mainly because i fish for channels and use chicken livers.....snappers love livers. Alotta times where I fish, it is uncommon to see a dead snapper on shore with his head cut off covered in maggots. Good eatin I hear though.
