I never really considered it until just a bit ago saw them using various models on TV. Just curious if they work as well as they showed. It can be a burden sometimes to use pliers, for me anyways. So, are they worth buying?

Brian in some cases they will work. I have a couple different types. However if the fish is hooked really deep, I prefer to cut the line and leave the hook to rust away. They are probably most beneficial when using treble hooks.

I've used a few but never really cared for any of them.

I like to use hemostats. I have a set with 4 different sizes in it. They give me the reach and grip to remove just about any hook from any size fish. The only hooks I don't remove are gut hooked fish then I cut the line and release or keep them for the fring pan.
