That white cat was taken from a pond Plumbertom1. It was a freak of nature as it absolutely smashed the old record.

Black Mac, I saw pictures of a cat that was in the 60 pound range (my memory is a little fuzzy). It was a blue cat caught in the delta on the San Joquin side. Lots of controversy surrounds the catch as blues don't inhabit the delta (supposedly). However, there are now reports of a biologist who says he released a bunch of baby blues many years ago into the delta so anything is possible I guess. I'm not sure what to believe anymore, but that's the biggest cat I've heard of coming from the Delta.

    I'm skeptical. . .

Yeah, Randy I read it said it came from a pond, thats why I said the delta area instead of the delta.
Unfortunatly finding records for just the Delta waters is beyond anything I can do.
I have no doubt that channel cats have been caught larger than that White.
And if there are blues in the Delta, well, all bets are off.
I personally would like to see flat heads introduced to the Delta. It would add to the great game fishing thats already there.
I don't see what the advantage to white cats are, all I've ever seen caught are smallish fish. I have no idea what their normal mature size is.

I live about 5 miles away from that pond. I used to catch big trout in the winter when they would stock it. It's also loaded with gills and carp.
    Linz.

That was a nice fish you caught Shania. It was a Channel Cat however that you caught, not a white cat. They are two different fish. White cats don't normally get very big. May you be blessed with many more big channel cats. .
