anyone fish mark twain lake
I've spent many of vacations at MTL,I love that lake.Mainly fished for crappie but have caught some nice cats while crappie fishing.
no but me and mine dad what to
sounds like its a fine place to fish
anyone ever catch walleye at mark twain?
I do. I fish it for crappie and cats, and have for years. I mainly fish with set lines for cats there.
Flatheads are the main target and there are plenty of big ones. It also has a good number of blues but I've never seen anything giant out of there (40 lbs is the biggest I've seen, 30 is the biggest I've caught). It's a neat lake and quieter than most.
Haven't fished marktwain yet, but I fish the local lakes in randolph county(wich isnt far from there)..caught a 11 1/2lb and 6 1/2lb cat s last night on hand-sized bluegill...one at 8:30, one at 10:30, both close to the bank
Me and Brother went Thursday afternoon, left ramp at 2:50 fish were hitting good but storm ran us off we pulled out of ramp at 4:30.
We ended up with 16 Channels and blues from 2-6 pounds . We had 2 blues on that we saw and lost that would have went over 15. We were kinda disapointed having to leave but glad we did as lightning got pretty bad on way home.
You know it's rather stange.I live maybe 30-35 miles from that lake and have never been on it .Hopefully that will change this year. Looks like some darn good fishing even from the bank up by the main dam. Gonna have to give it a try (if it ever warms up that is) Saw some big Flats pulled from the secondary dam down off of A .A couple 40 # ers I know of .That was back in the early 70's.
there in my freezer except for the two that got off, but if you want to see em come on over, they look like a blob of ice right now
If anyone is free next weekend, there is a tournament at the U ramp from 7am-3. $80 entry fee
can you email me details on the get together next weekend?
The tournament is on Sat.
i'm sorry, the tournament is on sunday
Better get used to calling it a 'gathering'. You cannot mention a non BOC partner tourney on this website.
I had to work Sat/Sun, but the weather was a bit rough for the lake. I hope to get out there more and find a big cat or 2. Hannibal Mike
I have caught quite a few walleye at MTL on crank baits.
That lake is loaded with CATS. Wheres the best areas to rod & reel fish? Do you fish real on the main lake or shallow up the rivers?:0a23:EAT,SLEEP,BREATH fishing!
I'd head up into north fork, or south fork a little ways myself.
