This is an older Pflueger BullDog called a Sal-Trout. I have never seen this reel or used one but I just bought it for $10.00 so I think its gonna be one of my main trout reels. If anyone has ever used one of these please let me know a little bit about it. How you liked it and if it gave you any trouble k? Thanks a million everybody!

Pflueger has been around for a very long time and have made many mid range reels as well as promotional reels. All Pflueger reels are within normal quality range and priced right. I know of no junk they have ever made. Any workable fly reel by them is well worth the money you paid, maybe double. By the photo's, it appears quite old. Try to see if it is listed here: http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/antiques/index.html

Sure was listed there. Manufactured in '35, '52, and '56.

I don't know if I would use it or not!

The one gripe I had with the old medalist I first used was the screws would come loose. Had to loc-tite, them.

Johnnie, do you have any of those old satwater bamboo rods they used for surf fishing? As I remember, they'd take a set and the guys would remove the guides and put them on the opposite side.
