anyone ever catch a..

    hellbender in PA? we were fishing one night and my buddy went over the bank to get what he thought was a small cat when he saw legs and took off running haha.. but after we took pictures and asked around, we realized it was a hellbender.. i never even saw one before that, so i was just curious..

    Yea,my brother caught one up north by the susquahanna. He was useing beef liver for bullheads. Those things are weird,they feel like a bag of pudding in your hands.

    it was about 18-20 inches..

    yeah, it looked like a little cat and then we saw the legs.. we got it on liver.. and they def feel preety weird..

    ya there's a strip mine up by harmer that has a bunch of them, thought about useing them for bait. but i found out that they are endangered and you cant even catch them, let alone use them for bait..lol. they are a very weird little creature thats for sure. tight lines..justin:cool2:

    I catch them a lot at Kelly Station at the dam. I have even caught them there in the middle of winter.

    I think I've heard them called mud dogs here in Kentucky, at least I think that's the same thing. It sure is creepy looking and would freak me out if I caught one in the dark.:eek:oooh:

    I,m with ya on that one brother! :eek:oooh: :eek:oooh: I would be saying WHAT THE HELLLL-- then would try to decide weather it was edible or not, and if so, how to go about cleaning the d--b thing.

    My buddy and his friend caught one on the Allegheny near Harmarville. They thought they discovered a type of dinosaur and were going to be rich and famous.
