Wondering if anyone has been catching any crappie at Land between the lakes, Kentucky or Barkley Lake. Planning on taking a trip down there soon and just wondering if they are biting in either lake. Thanks rspd507

We just had the CrappieUSA Classic down at Paris, TN. We had 195 teams fishing the two lakes. Early in the week the bite was slow due to water temps were still in the upper 70's. Once it started cooling off wed and thurs, the bite really started to pick up Friday.
The top team weight in a two day weight (14 fish) of 21.98lbs. Everyone talked about the big fish being burried in structure. Depth wasnt much of an issue ranging from 5ft up to 25ft. But all the fish were down in the structure, and there is alot of structure on KY and Barkley Lake. Big Sandy probably produced the largest fish and I believe that the top team (which shoots private docks primarily) fished around eagle creek. The teams that fished the best found success on white/chartruse/and red Southern Pro, Big Bite Baits, and Lindy jigs.
    Hope this helps!

    Tanner,
Thanks for the great info. But what advice can you give too a guy like me who's very new at this(Only crappie fished twice) that uses just minnows and maybe crappie nibbles? Still fish shallower water with cover or deeper water with bait deeper. Again thanks for the info, rspd507
