I use live warmouth for bait. I was was just wondering if any of u guys use live warmouth. I think it is 1 of the best baits for flatheads and blues. They stay alive alot longer than plain old blue gill.

They are great, and very hardy. They can even live a long time out of the water!

I use them when I can find them. Most of the time I use bullheads or gills.

My pb channel (20.8 pounds) was caught on a live warmouth under a float.

I use warmouth's also it just seems I get 4 bluegill's or green sunfish (black perch) to one warmouth. So I just use whatever I can get and don't really see a difference in the amount of bites based and the 3 mentioned baits.

    Hope this helps

I prefer warmouths over gills. Hooked right they stay alive a long time.

i love them when i can find them. they are hard to come by around here and most of the ones i catch are small. before i got into flathead fishing i would catch alot of nice big ones but now its slim pickin's.

We don't have warmouths out here, but the closest thing to it is a rockbass. They work fine for flatheads, but are hard to keep alive. They seem to be the first one's to succumb to stress:embarassed:. Like trout, they need a constant supply of clean cold water.

I have used them before with success. Just depends because I usually don't catch many warmouth or rockbass anyway.

In my opinion they are the number one bait for large flatheads. They seem to live better than bluegills and they move around your float alot.

i have to agree warmouths are excellent bait and very hardy as well, i usually hook mine right up through the bottom lip up through the nose and they will stay alive all night long, im lucky that i have multiple bait holes that hold plenty of warmouths year in and out...

Warmouths are my number 1 live bait for flatheads. Sometimes I can catch 15 or 20, other times just a couple.
