Anyone have any info on the James River? Always been curious about it and never got to fish it, heard there are big spoons but wondering if there are any big blues?

I don't believe there are - there may be a few random blues in Table Rock, but not thick enough to target. There should be a healthy flathead population though, and some nice channel cats.

I have run trot lines and jugs in the mouth of the james and never done that well. I have caught some nice flatheads out of the Kings however. It shouldn't be very long before the kentucky bass turn on with jerk baits. It's a sweet lake for bass fishin.

I live about five miles from the James, have fished it from east of Springfield to where it and Flat creek come togeather at Cape Fair. There is lots of channel, flats, and spoonbill, have never seen a blue in James or Tablerock in over 48 years of fishing it.
